What is the difference between PU and microfiber leather shoes?

PU shoes and microfiber leather shoes have several differences that are worth knowing about.

First, let's talk about the materials themselves. PU stands for polyurethane, which is a type of synthetic material. It is made through chemical processes and can be designed to mimic the look of real leather quite well. Microfiber leather, on the other hand, is also synthetic but is made from very fine fibers. It usually has a more complex structure compared to PU and is often created to imitate the texture and feel of genuine leather in a different way.

When it comes to the appearance of the shoes, PU shoes can sometimes look a bit shiny and have a more uniform texture. They might lack the depth and natural variations that you can find in real leather or even in microfiber leather that is designed to mimic it closely. Microfiber leather shoes often have a more textured look, with a surface that can feel a bit more like real leather to the touch. They might have a slightly softer and more organic appearance, though still not as natural as real leather shoes.

In terms of durability, PU shoes can vary a lot depending on the quality of the PU material used. Some lower-quality PU can peel or crack easily after a short period of wear and tear. Microfiber leather shoes generally tend to hold up better in this regard. They are less likely to peel quickly and can withstand more bending and movement without showing significant signs of damage right away.

Breathability is another aspect. PU shoes usually don't have great breathability. They can make your feet feel a bit stuffy, especially if you wear them for a long time or in warm weather. Microfiber leather shoes have been improved in terms of breathability over the years, but they still might not be as breathable as real leather shoes. However, they do a bit better than PU shoes in allowing some air to circulate inside.

When it comes to cleaning, PU shoes are relatively easy to clean. You can often just wipe them with a damp cloth to remove dirt or stains. Microfiber leather shoes also can be cleaned in a similar way, but sometimes they might need a bit more gentle care to maintain their texture and appearance.

Overall, both PU and microfiber leather shoes have their own characteristics, and the choice between them depends on personal preferences and specific needs.
